How to Use LG Mobile Support Tool: Step-by-Step Tutorial for Windows

Last updated: February 8, 2026

Overview

  • The LG Mobile Support Tool is a legacy Windows utility for installing LG USB drivers, checking for official firmware updates, and performing software recovery on older LG phones. Because LG has wound down mobile support, some online update/recovery functions may be limited; driver installation and local recovery remain most reliable.

Before you begin (requirements)

  • Windows PC (Windows 7 through Windows 11 recommended).
  • USB cable that supports data (not charge-only).
  • At least 10% battery on the phone (preferably >50%).
  • Backup of any important data — recovery/firmware processes can erase device data.
  • LG Mobile Support Tool installer (download from LG’s official support site or a reputable archive).
  • If possible, run installer as Administrator.
  1. Download and install the tool
  1. Go to LG’s official Software & Drivers page for your region (or the LG Mobile Support Tool entry) and download the Windows installer.
  2. Right-click the downloaded EXE and choose “Run as administrator.”
  3. Follow the installer prompts. If installation stalls near the beginning on modern Windows, temporarily disable antivirus and retry, or try compatibility mode (Windows 7).
  4. Restart the PC after installation completes.
  1. Install LG USB drivers (recommended first)
  1. Open LG Mobile Support Tool.
  2. Connect your LG phone to the PC with the USB data cable.
  3. On the PC, if a driver-install prompt appears, allow it. The tool often includes a “Install driver” or “Device Drivers” option — click it to install the LG USB drivers.
  4. Verify device recognition: open Windows Device Manager → look for “LG,” “ADB Interface,” “LG Mobile” or an MTP device without a yellow warning icon.
  1. Prepare your phone for update or recovery
  • Enable USB debugging only if instructed for advanced procedures (Settings → Developer options → USB debugging). For normal updates, leave Developer options off.
  • Set USB connection mode to MTP/File Transfer if the phone asks when you connect it.
  1. Check for firmware updates
  1. With the phone connected and drivers installed, open LG Mobile Support Tool.
  2. The tool should detect the model and display available updates if LG servers still host them.
  3. If an update is listed, read the notes, then click “Update” or “Start.”
  4. Do not disconnect the phone or interrupt power during the update. The PC will download and push the firmware; the phone will reboot and may show an installation progress screen.
  5. After the phone restarts, allow additional setup time; check Settings → About phone to confirm the new firmware version.
  1. Use recovery (software repair) option
  • When to use: device stuck in boot loop, soft-bricked, or not booting normally but still recognized by PC.
    Steps:
  1. Connect the phone and open the tool.
