Mail BOY Startup Checklist: Get Set Up in 10 Minutes

0. Prep (1 minute)

  • Requirements: Email address you want to import, device with internet, optional backup of existing mail.
  • Decide: Single account or multiple accounts.

1. Create your Mail BOY account (2 minutes)

  • Go to the Mail BOY signup page, enter an email and password, verify by the link sent to your inbox.

2. Add your first mailbox (2 minutes)

  • In Settings → Mailboxes → Add mailbox:
    • Choose provider (Gmail, Outlook, IMAP).
    • Enter credentials or app-specific password (for Gmail/Outlook, create an app password if 2FA enabled).
    • Grant required permissions if using OAuth.

3. Import existing mail (2 minutes, runs in background)

  • Use Import → Select folders and date range.
  • Start import; allow background sync — large archives continue after setup.

4. Configure core preferences (1 minute)

  • Signature: Settings → Signature — add name and contact.
  • Default reply behavior: Settings → Replies → choose “Reply” or “Reply all” default.
  • Notification preferences: push, desktop, or off.

5. Quick organization (2 minutes)

  • Create 3 essential folders/labels: Inbox, Action, Archive.
  • Create two filters:
    • Filter 1: Move newsletters to Archive.
    • Filter 2: Star messages from your boss/priority contacts.

6. Security & backup (optional, 1–3 minutes)

  • Enable two-factor authentication (if available).
  • Export a mailbox backup (Settings → Export) or enable automatic backup.

7. Final checks (30 seconds)

  • Send a test email to yourself.
  • Confirm sync completed for most recent messages.

Notes:

  • Total active setup time: ~10 minutes; imports and full sync may take longer.
  • If you want, I can customize this checklist for Gmail, Outlook, or a generic IMAP setup.
